Just because you have to stay indoors, doesn’t mean that you can’t have some fun. This is the essence of Ikea’s newest campaign. With this campaign, the home services giant urges people to see the current situation as glass half full and to use your imagination to make mundane situations into fun ones.
Cook your favorite meal in the kitchen with your loved ones, and there you go - you’re at your favorite restaurant. Get all your family members together and sit at the dining table - now you’re at a mini picnic. Play catch in your bedroom, and it's like you're in the park or playground with your friends. Ikea is encouraging us to create some joy in our routine with the hashtag #IKEAlifeathome.
Just because you’re literally locked in your homes, doesn’t mean your imagination has to be too.
As a part of this new theme, IKEA is also sharing inspiration ideas for people who want to change up their spaces during the lockdown.
Additionally, IKEA is asking people on Instagram to use the hashtag. The person simply needs to capture how she’s spending this time at home/the way she has spiced up her home environment and post it on Instagram, use the hashtag and tag IKEA to be featured on the company’s Instagram page. UGC (user generated content) programs rarely ever go wrong - and this attempt, according to me, has a feel good energy to it; something that people can relate to.
The campaign resonates with my new daily routine - I've become the chef in my kitchen, and my parents - the hungry customers. I use the dining table as my workspace and sunbathe in the balcony as though I were at the beach. I workout in my room, and now that's my personal gym. If you're privileged enough to be living in a safe environment, then don't let the lockdown plummet your motivation to do all your pre-lockdown daily routines. Or just create new ones!
What have you been doing during the lockdown to keep your spirits high?
